region opens doors to Dr. Lina Shaar,
the latest addition to its team of general dentists. Dr. Lina is now seeing
patients at Dr. Michael’s Dental Clinic’s newest practice in Dubai Healthcare
City.
Dr. Lina is passionate about providing
gentle, individualized care. She enjoys helping her patients heal their pain
and educating them on how they can better improve their oral health. She loves
all aspects of dentistry and has many years of private practice and training in
Canada and the UAE.
“I enjoy meeting new people all the time,
many of whom come from different backgrounds, have fascinating jobs, and varied
interests,” said Dr. Lina. “It’s
fulfilling to see that the work that I do directly improves my patients’
quality of life.”
“I value patient feedback very much. Some patients are afraid of
dentists because they have usually had bad experiences before. So when I treat
them and educate them on oral care and then see them return 6 months later and
they’re cavity-free and happy to visit me as their dentist, I find that very
rewarding. I truly appreciate the trust that my patients have placed in me to
improve their oral health.”
When asked about the importance of patient
education, Dr. Lina said, “I’m most
passionate about educating patients on flossing. It’s surprising how few
patients do it and yet it’s so beneficial and can be done just once a day for
about 30 seconds. The impact that those 30 seconds per day can have on
patients’ oral health is so profound that I never stop telling patients to
floss, floss, floss!”
Dr. Lina was a consistent Dean’s Honor Roll
student and has received prestigious awards while in the university. She
received her undergraduate degree (with honors) in Biochemistry from Western
University in Ontario, Canada in 2005 and earned her DMD from the University of
Manitoba – School of Dentistry in 2009. She is a member of the Canadian Dental
Association, the Manitoba Dental Association and the Royal College of Dental
Surgeons of Ontario.
